Rachael has worked in the shipping, ports and aviation industries for most of her career. She was Head of Public Relations at international cruise line, Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, for over a decade, before which she was Public Affairs and Communications Manager at BAA London Stansted, and Public Relations Manager at Hutchison Ports (UK), based at the Port of Felixstowe. 

In her current hybrid role at Penn Commercial, Suffolk’s leading independent commercial property agency, Rachael is responsible for PR and marketing, as well as property sales and lettings, across office, retail, industrial, land and investment sectors. 

Rachael specialises in media relations, content creation, stakeholder engagement, Corporate Social Responsibility, event management and developing / leading on integrated, multi-platform corporate communications campaigns. 

Rachael set up PR / marketing consultancy RJ Communications in July 2020. Clients include Northwood Investors, Ipswich Sports Club and Seckford Care in Woodbridge.   

In addition, Rachael has nearly 25 years’ experience of crisis communications, safeguarding reputation and ensuring that companies retain their ‘licence to operate’ in emergency situations. 

Rachael is an alumna of the University of Birmingham, having attained a 2.1 B.A. Hons in ‘Classics’. She is long-standing Member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, attaining her CIPR Diploma in 2007, and is a graduate of the Chartered Management Institute. 

Rachael is proud to have represented the University of Suffolk as a Visiting Fellow of Public Relations since 2017, and is keen to work with the School of Technology, Business and Arts to bring real-life communications experience and expertise to the student curriculum.  

Rachael is a member of Felixstowe Chamber of Commerce, and is active within a number of local community groups. 

Rachael lives in Felixstowe with her fiancé and rescue cat, Polly. In her spare time, she enjoys eating out, theatre and travel.
