Initial Teacher Training (ITT)

The University is in partnership with two Initial Teacher Training (ITT) providers: Colchester Teacher Training Consortium (CTTC) and Norfolk, Essex and Suffolk Teacher Training (NESTT).

Both providers offer both Primary and Secondary teacher training routes. Most of the training is delivered in the classroom by experienced teachers, at long-established school centred providers. Our ITT partners work in collaboration with schools located within Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk providing practical, hands-on training from experienced teachers.

On successful completion, trainees will receive a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), awarded and conferred by the University of Suffolk. The PGCE programmes enable trainee teachers to gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), which is recommended by their chosen ITT provider upon successful completion of the programme.
