Jonathan Harvey

After a successful career as an event professional, business manager, and entrepreneur, Jonathan joined the university as a student to further develop his skills. He began with an undergraduate degree in Event and Tourism Management, later advancing to postgraduate studies in Business and Management. While studying he achieved the Ramada Encore Excellent Award for Outstanding Achievement.

During his studies, Jonathan used his experiences from roles across the public, private, and voluntary sectors. His skillset led to invitations to teach on various modules, eventually resulting in his employment as a lecturer. His dedication and capabilities quickly earned him promotions to Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader, overseeing programmes in Events and Tourism Management, Business Management, and Marketing Management.

Jonathan is deeply committed to enhancing the student experience. He has designed programmes and modules that focus on equipping students with real-world skills and practical experiences to prepare them for careers in business. As an advocate for students needing to develop their skills, he actively encourages students to engage in work placements, volunteer opportunities, and networking with industry professionals. Recognised for his teaching, Jonathan has received nominations and short listings for Best Personal Tutor and Most Inspiring Lecturer awards and feels the student experience should be promoted to the full.

In his primary role as Senior Academic Advisor within the university’s Centre for Academic and International Partnerships, Jonathan collaborates with UK and international partner institutions at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He ensures the quality and relevance of collaborative programmes, offers guidance in programme development, and provides ongoing training and support. His focus on supporting high-quality learning experiences for students is important to him.

Jonathan also chairs university Validation Panels, Assessment Boards, and Student Voice Forums, underscoring his commitment to upholding academic excellence and student engagement.
