Overview
The BA (Hons) Business Management degree course brings together degree-level education and professional practice and has been co-designed with industry experts to equip you with the practical experience and knowledge you’ll need to thrive in a complex digital landscape.
In your first year, you will study core modules to build a solid foundation in key areas of Business Management, in your second and third year, we will offer you optional modules to help you shape your degree around your interests.
For students with a particular interest in Digital Marketing, Digital Entrepreneurship, or Digital Innovation, we offer a set of modules (pathway) that will reflect this specialism on your degree certificate.
If you do not wish to pursue these specialisms you can choose from the available options to 'build your own’ degree programme and study business in a way that suits you.
The BA (Hons) Business Management degrees are dual accredited with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). This means that by opting to study Business Management, and completing your degree you will also receive a L5 Chartered Manager qualification. Recent studies have shown that graduates from a CMI accredited degree earn 7% more than non-accredited graduates with 72% of graduates agreeing that this gave them a competitive edge in the job market. The Business School’s collaboration with this worldwide, industry renowned body enables us to embed essential skill building into your degree to ensure you are a work-ready graduate.

This module delivers an introduction to organisational management, focusing on planning, organising, and leading individuals in workplace settings. By examining key concepts and theories, the module explores how several successful organisations have adopted and implemented these ideas. On completion of this module you will Understand the fundamental concepts of management and leadership in the dynamic world of Digital and AI capabilities.
This module encourages you to appreciate and understand the financial reporting of different forms of business and budgeting and cost management of their organizations from the perspective of a business manager in an increasingly digital environment. On this module you will develop knowledge of current financial accounting reporting concepts and principles because financial confidence is important to any manager and Business managers need at least a working understanding of the language and reports of financial and managerial accounting.
On taking this module, you will understand key components of the external business environments and their implications for business strategy. This module is designed to help you when preparing for managerial roles to develop a solid foundation in evaluating these external forces and their impact on various business activities. This approach utilises real-world applications, equipping students with essential skills in navigating external business challenges in their future roles.
The module provides you with a comprehensive understanding of digital marketing principles and strategies and consider how the integration of AI can enhance marketing effectiveness. You will explore how Digital Marketing integrates with artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to improve targeting, personalization, content creation, and customer experience across various digital channels as well as improve processes for marketers.
On completion of this module, you will consider the role of digital and AI technologies in entrepreneurial success and be able to communicate knowledge and understanding of the fundamental concepts of enterprise, entrepreneurship, digital business and artificial intelligence. On this module you will explore the role of digital innovation including artificial intelligence in creating competitive advantage, driving business growth and fostering enterprise; and how to be entrepreneurial in the context of digital technology advancements and artificial intelligence.
On this module you will understand the significance of emotional intelligence in the recruitment process and its application in building positive and collaborative workplace relationships. The module combines The University of Suffolk Graduate Attributes and FutureMe careers platform as part of your personal development from self-awareness and reflection to career development planning and a period of industry- based practice. Through the development of practical work-based skills and knowledge your readiness for post-graduate employment will be enhanced, increasing their position to compete for key roles upon graduation.
The module explores the psychology of consumer decision-making, factors that influence buying behaviour and how we can effectively market to consumers based on this insight. On this module you will apply consumer behaviour theory to understand customers buying behaviours and customer journeys.
On this module you will analyse, design, and implement effective digital transformation strategies considering ethical and sustainability impacts of proposed strategies. This module equips you with a foundational understanding of digital innovation, transformation frameworks, and the skills to navigate, design, and implement digital strategies.
This module will explore people management issues and concepts with a focus on the practical applications which contribute to sustainable competitive advantage. This module will equip you with the skills to utilise HR analytics and other emerging technologies to inform decision making and contribute to managing the performance of the organisation. Successful completion of this module will equip graduates with a good grounding in the subject knowledge and understand what good practice is in people management in a range of organisational contexts.
On this module, you will learn to analyse the complexities of consultancy work within global contexts; and formulate and present effective solutions to complex business problems, with consideration of CSR, ESG, and ethical principles. This module prepares you for consultancy roles by equipping them with the skills to navigate and address real-world challenges in diverse industries and markets
This module equips you with advanced knowledge and skills in brand building, management, and the creation of impactful communication strategies, with a strong emphasis on integrated marketing communications (IMC). On taking this module, you will be able to design an integrated marketing communications (IMC) plan, including digital and offline channels, that aligns with brand strategy.
On completion of this module, you will be able to critically assess the opportunities and challenges associated with implementing new technologies in business models. Covering topics such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, sustainability, and digital ethics, this module prepares students to navigate and lead in the rapidly evolving business landscape.
This module encourages you to appreciate and understand the financial management decision-making process in the digitally transforming corporate environment. On completion of this module, you will be able to evaluate corporate financial management decisions from both quantitative and qualitative perspectives and Use AI to generate and evaluate possible solutions to real-world financial scenarios.
This module emphasises the interaction between strategic change initiatives and the people element within organizations, highlighting leadership's role in driving successful transformation. on completion of this module, you will be able to analyse strategic change models and frameworks and apply them to real-world business scenarios.
The Final Year Enterprise or Capstone modules provides you with the opportunity to work on a project of interest to them in their final year.
Capstone Project: The Capstone project provides you with the opportunity to work on a project of interest to them. On the Capstone module, you will design a well-defined research project supported by appropriate methodologies and critically analyse and synthesise findings to formulate meaningful conclusions or recommendations with an opportunity to present research findings effectively through written or written and presentation. You are expected to draw upon knowledge and skills from other modules as they work on their projects.
Enterprise Project: On the Enterprise module, you will develop a business idea from germination to business plan, pitch a business idea in a professional and convincing manner, and reflect on performance in order to improve practice. You will have the opportunity to engage with the concept of responsible entrepreneurship through socially conscious business planning and market research, and the development of sustainable enterprise ideas that contribute positively to society and the economy. The module involves you working individually on the development of an entrepreneurial business idea and you will also be encouraged to draw upon learning from other modules at all levels in responding to the challenges presented in this part of the course.

Business Development Managers were the 2nd most in demand occupations in the UK in 2021, closely followed by Business Management professionals and project managers, 8th most in demand.
This degree enables you to work within a range of industries, whether major corporates, the public sector, SME’s, charities or start-ups.
