Overview

Provides students with an opportunity to demonstrate motivation and commitment to the development of the holistic assessment processes of adult patients/clients in a specific practice setting.
There will be an emphasis on practitioners identifying learning content based on their personal development plan, specific to the holistic assessment needs of their particular adult patient/client group. Assessment consists of the compilation of a portfolio of evidence including documentation and assessment of actual holistic assessments carried out, an Objective Structured Clinical Examination and a critical self-evaluation.

  • To engage in comprehensive enquiry with identified aspects of holistic assessment of individual’s.
  • To extend opportunities for critical self-evaluation.
  • To achieve specified holistic assessment competencies in the work place.

Healthcare professionals registered with the NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council)/HPC (Health Professions Council).
Working in a clinical setting where health assessment skills can be practiced and suitably mentored

You will learn:

  • How to carry out head to toe assessment on patients
  • Physical assessment in relation to identifying patient's health problems
  • Investigative procedures for reviewing patient's health status
  • Identifying patient at risk for deterioration

On successful completion of this module, you should be able to:

  • Use patients' history for making appropriate decisions in relation to patient's health status
  • Conduct physical examination to accurately identify patient's health problems 
  • Use appropriate investigative procedures and interpret findings in relation to patient's health status

  • Successful completion of degree level modules can enable progression to master's degree studies in a range of Health Care related courses
  • You should possess the qualities and knowledge to work in a clinical environment using the acquired health assessment skills
