Financial Support for Visiting the University
The University encourages all prospective students to visit our campus to see our facilities and academic teaching, however we recognise that the financial cost of visiting universities can be a concern.
We would therefore like to offer support with the travel costs of up to £50, associated with visiting the University of Suffolk, for those who travel a significant distance (a round trip of at least 150 miles) OR meet widening participation criteria (as defined below):
- First generation to HE (parents/carers did not go to university)
- From a household income below £25,000
- From a military family
- Are or have been in local authority care
- Have a specific learning difficulty or disability
- Are from an ethnic minority group
We will normally consider students attending an Open Day, Interview/Portfolio Review, or an Applicant Visit.
Students must pay for travel costs upfront and then submit a travel expenses form with proof of costs (e.g. relevant receipts/booking confirmations. Mileage will be paid at the rate of 45p per mile. Either a mileage claim, or receipts from an alternative mode of transport is accepted, of up to £50 against travel costs.
If you feel you are eligible, please complete both forms below and return to financialsupport_travelclaims@uos.ac.uk
Any expenses forms submitted by email after the visit must be returned to the University within 28 days of the visit. Please note, the University of Suffolk has a dedicated fund to support claims, however once this finite fund is fully allocated, no further assistance can be provided.
Payments will normally be made directly to the applicant's bank account within four weeks of submission. If you have any further questions, feel free to email us on financialsupport_travelclaims@uos.ac.uk.
